Robert E. A. Lee, author of seven previous books, is a former communication chief for the Lutheran denomination in the United States. He has two feature movies and two major television documentaries to his credit as executive producer. Lee has been a TV host, syndicated radio movie critic, journalist, speech coach and radio announcer and program director.
Since 1988 he has worked for his own organization, REALWorld Communications (www.realworldcomm.com) as a PR consultant and film maker. For religious relief and development organizations Lee has produced educational videos in the Philippines, Tanzania, Kenya, Niger, Burkina Faso, India, Peru and Honduras.
An essayist and poet, Lee has published his writings on his internet website.
During World War II, he was a Navy seaplane pilot in the Pacific, surveying the waters for thousands of nautical miles surrounding the former Japanese-controlled islands from harbors in the Marshall, Mariana and Okinawa chain of islands. The huge four-engine Coronado patrol bombers of his squadron were involved in searching for submarines, enemy shipping, and even at times engaging in air combat with Japanese war planes. He was awarded the Navy’s Distinguished Flying Cross.
Lee graduated from Luther College and did graduate study at the University of Minnesota and New York University. Susquehanna University honored him with a Doctor of Fine Arts degree.
During World War II he married Elaine Naeseth, a musician. During their 56 years of marriage (she died in 2000) Elaine and Bob had six children. As adults, these four women and two men include a musician (Sigrid), an electronics engineer (Paul), a language educator (Barbara), a philosophy professor (Richard), a Lutheran pastor (Sylvia) and an artist and designer (Margaret). Elaine had been a teacher and organist. She was the subject of the seventh of his books, Dear Elaine.
He is a resident of Baldwin, Long Island, New York.
Lee was born in 1921 and raised in Spring Grove, Minnesota.
