I still need share the sight
feeling sensation exhilaration
amazement surprise
of what I apprehend in daily rounds
Why earlier I did share
word of my neighbor
her wheelchair bravery powered
addressing mundane challenges
indoors outdoors nextdoor
I spoke of admiration
pride in determination
fortitude initiative independence
resourcefulness optimism
She smiled:
“I want to stay alive”
Today then no surprise
only admiration pride and…
(I almost said envy)
that she was alone outside
again wheelchair bound
cellphone at the ready
snow shovel in hand
cleaning off her driveway
Instinct nudged me almost to call:
“Can I help you?”
Memory halted my words
stopped my steps
“I want to do it!”
she has said it betimes.
I simply smiled
nodded my head
waved
Now inside, I need share
today’s repeat lesson
