Musik's Mystery

by Robert E. A. Lee

Come and play
music with me
Not a childish game
Still we play
or try to
More than sound we hear
We listen
Inspired excited
pleasured pleased
Or not
Spiritual somehow
mysterious
Beyond description
Beyond definition
Remote clicks
Bring instant mystery
Hi-Fi’s Lo-Fi’s
Melody rivulets
Heart-beating rhythms
Infuse into veins
Invade memory cells
Inhabit gene strings

Shall we dance?
Bach Beethoven Brahms
Mozart Mahler Mendlessohn
Sing to us
Invade our souls
Despite off-clicking
radio CD tape
computer
Despite leaving
Carnegie Alice Avery
Memory replay touched
“Hearing” while we walk
Shower
Lie on pillows
Perchance to dream?
Name that tune --
Which cantata
symphony suite sonata?
Soprano song singer star?
O Mother Mystery
Come play with me
Sister son soulmate
Come pray with me
God will explain music
Will music explain God?
